'EMERGENCY MEETING NOT VALID'


“If the notice
was not sent by the secretary,
then the meeting cannot be valid,”

said Law Professor Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi

The “emergency meeting” of the Perak State Assembly is not valid because it did not conform with the notice requirement of the Standing Order, a constitutional law expert said.

International Islamic University Law Professor Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi said the meeting did not conform with Standing Order 8(1) which requires a written notice for a meeting to be sent out by the assembly’s secretary.
