TIGER WOODS WON AUSTRALIAN MASTERS

"I felt this was
a tricky golf course
in a sense.
It's not overly long but
you can hit marginal shots
and have them in pretty bad spots,"
said Tiger woods .

I'm glad I had the opportunity to watch over tv live the moments world No. 1 Tiger woods got his maiden victory on Australian soil at Kingston Heath. He won JBWere Masters with a 2-under 274 score, two shorts over Greg Charmers.

Though Woods had to share the lead at the end of the third round with two others, his magnificant performance in the final round had earned him a golden jacket, a trophy, a $250,000 cheque plus a $3 million appearance fees.

Despite of this hefty appreance fees, the money appeared to pay off as 25,000 fans packed the course each day, lining the fairways and circling the greens to follow the world No. 1. It was reported that the collection from this event is more than the expected amount ie. $A19 million.

" This has been absolutely phenomenal," Woods said during the trophy presentation. " I'm sorry it took me so long to get back." Tiger promised to come back to defend his title at Victoria Golf Club next year.

THE PERILS OF TEXT MESSAGING

Texting may allure problems...

Fort Lauderdale
Family Law Attorney
Advises Clients
to Avoid Texting Marital,

Extra-Marital or Negotiation Details -
Or Risk Texts Becoming Evidence,

The above advice comes from Barry I. Finkel, partner in The Law
Office of Berry
I. finkel P. A. as reported by Reuters.

"In the age of digital communications, there now are three sides
to every divorce story:
His, hers, and what's being stored by the
phone company."

"Digital communications, like email, instant messaging and
increasingly text
messaging using a wireless phone, has opened
new lines of communication
between people. This includes
couples facing divorce. While email and IM are
commonly used,
most should be wary of texting. Why? Many people who text often

will message their spouse, friends or even a lover with whom
they're having an
affair, revealing intentions, intimate details and
negotiation strategies."

"Such conversations can become evidence in the mediation or
courtroom setting.
Yet, hitting "Delete" isn't enough to erase the
conversation. The phone
company often retains records of text
conversations for up to 30 days. In a
divorce scenario, those records
can be requested or subpoenaed into evidence."

MIRINAE HITS PHILIPPINES, LEAVING 14 DEAD

Typhoon Mirinae hit Philippines and on the way to
Vietnam . Image source:NMOC*

"We saw many
shanty-type houses
that had been washed away
and residents frantically try to get
hold of their household material,"said
videographer James Reynolds

I feel very sad to have heard news of natural disasters which have occurred lately in several neighboring countries.

The latest incident was that the main island of Luzon, Philippines was hit by typhoon Mirinae on early Saturday morning resulting in at least 14 people dead, toppling trees and damaging more than 5,500 houses with fierce winds.

Mirinae was the fourth storm to lash Philippines in a month. Since late September, typhoons Ketsana, Parma and Lupit combined killed more than 850 people, with Ketsana delivering the Philippines heaviest rainfall in 40 years. 87,000 people are still living in evacuation centers, officials said.

The storm headed out over the South China Sea and was swirling 279 miles (450 kilometers) southwest of Manila early today but could still bring rains and thunderstorms to western Palawan province, forecasters said.

It was expected to strike Vietnam's central coast around noon Monday.

I would like to convey my deepest sympathies and condolences to the people of Philippines for the mishaps and miseries they are suffering. Meanwhile, I hope Mirinae will bring less hardship to the people of Vietnam.

JESSICA'S AROUND THE WORLD VOYAGE

Jessica Watson on Ella's Pink Lady taken on 24 October

"We're making

the most of the wind
and loving the good progress
while it lasts." said Jessica Watson

Italic
Jessica's saga to become the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe non-stop and unassisted has been narrated in our posting 'Schoolgirl To Set World Record' on 19 October 2009.

This posting attempts to update briefly Jessica's experience and achievement thus far.

It has been twelve days since Jessica Watson set sail from Sydney harbor on her voyage around the world which will take about eight months.

Jessica is doing great and has passed 1,000 nautical miles mark of her 23,000 miles journey. She has left Tasman behind and now heading towards Fiji, Samoa and Line Islands which include Christmas Island at the Equator before turning south to South America.

Jessica is an excellent author. She writes almost everyday in her blog describing her feelings, routine, chores and experience sailing solo. For example, she described about her unexpected visitors, "
When it got light this morning I did my usual check around Ella's Pink Lady to find a whole lot of little squid lying on the deck where they'd clearly got stuck after jumping on board during the night..."

When answering question on what it's like at night out there, she said, " I think a lot of people get goose bumps when they think about being out here all by themself because I think most people imagine it to be like a night in the suburbs all quiet and eerie. But it’s not like that at all. Firstly, because there's the constant noise and motion of the boat. Then there's the waves and wind for company! On a clear night the stars are pretty amazing ...."

Despite being just about two weeks into her solo voyage, Jessica Watson has already captured the interest and imagination of the world audience, with over 400,000 hits per day on her websites and thousands of comments on her blog. These comments include ours which were sent on 24 and 29 October 2009, one of them is as follows:

CONSUMERS SPENT $400 MILLION ON EBAY USING ITS iPHONE APP

“Some people
search for an item,
bid and buy all on the iPhone,”
said eBay CEO John Danahoe.
“Others search on their desktop [computer],
and end up completing the transaction on the iPhone.”

Here's a striking example of consumers are now becoming more comfortable with mobile internet and mobile shopping.

According to eBay CEO John Donahoe, shoppers have spent more than $400m on eBay using eBay's iPhone App this year. This figure is significant considering iPhone shares only 15% of the smartphones segment and mobile payment transactions are still new to many.

About 4.6m people have downloaded the ebay app, using it to buy not just books, clothes and electronics, but also a $ 350,000 Lamborghini, a $150,000 boat, and a Bentley.

SCHOOLGIRL TO SET WORLD RECORD

Jessica Watson on Ella's Pink Lady

“Today, I am going to sail around the world.” – Jessica Watson

It's really astounding to learn that there is a schoolgirl who has a clear vision and sheer determination to undergo a treacherous journey to become the youngest person to sail solo and unassisted around the world.

This extraordinary person is Jessica Watson, a 16-year-old Australian who sailed her Ella's Pink Lady yacht out of Sydney on Sunday on a 23,600 -nautical- miles voyage around the world.

34- feet Ella's Pink Lady yacht

After leaving Sydney, Jessica will heads northern New Zealand, then to Fiji, Samoa, South America, South Africa, then sail the final leg of 4,000 nautical miles back to Australia. The entire journey will take about eight months.

Jassica's endeavor has sparked a debate in Australia about whether someone so young should be allowed to try such a potentially dangerous feat. However,Watson and her family insist that she has studied navigation, electronics and maritime safety procedures and is an experienced and capable sailor.

Jessica also informed that although she will sail solo and unassisted, she will be in constant contact with her support team via radio, e-mail and a blog.

Bon Voyage Jessica Watson! May your voyage around the world will be safe, speedy and a great accomplishment indeed.

iPHONE APP ALLOWS DISSECTION OF A HUMAN BODY

"Anatomy Lab" lets the user move between 40 body layers.

"A lot of

are using it to educate patients
and show them
the body parts they're discussing,"
Nielsen told CNN

H
ere's a good news to medical students and practitioners.

A new iPhone app, 'Anatomy Lab' allows users to carry out a virtual dissection of a human body.

"called 'Anatomy Lab,' has been developed by researchers from the University of Utah and provides images of a real human cadaver."

"Utah professor Mark Nielsen told CNN that the application is aimed at medical and anatomy students who might not have the opportunity to dissect a real human body, but it's also proving a hit with medical practitioners."

The 'Anatomy Lab" has so far sold more than 3,000 copies.

"The app also comes in a cheaper, scaled-down version called "My Body," aimed at the curious amateur."
